As to what particular course is suitable for yourself, that depends entirely on what you wish to secure the requisite licence and ratings for.

If it is your wish to rent out a single piston engine aircraft from a flying club to fly solo for a couple of hours as a weekend hobby, then a PPL course is what you need to undertake to secure a Private Pilot's Licence and Rating.

If it is your wish to begin a career as a commercial pilot in the air freight or airlines industry, then a CPL/IR course which seamlessly integrates a Frozen ATPL course is what you need to undertake to secure a Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating and a Frozen Airlines Transport Pilot Licence.

If it is your wish to begin a career as an assistant flight instructor in a flight training establishment or a flying club and work your way on up from there to a full fledged flight instructor, then a CPL/IR course and thereafter an AFI course is what your need to undertake to secure a Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating and an Assistant Flying Instructor Rating.

As of June 10, 2005, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors may now use their savings in their EPF Account II to fund and finance their own or their children's pursuit of the Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating (CPL/IR) Course. PPL - Private Pilot Licence Course

PPL - Private Pilot Licence Course


 PPL Synopsis 

The Private Pilot Licence Course is geared and crafted in accordance with the specifications as is presently required by the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation. It is a minimum continuous twelve (12) week term course designed to train a person to be able to confidently pilot a single piston-engined aircraft on his or her own. A successful completion of this course along with DCA's theory examinations results in a Private Pilot Licence. It is an elementary course which is usually undertaken by private pilot enthusiasts or hobbyists to allow them to take up flying solo as a hobby. Incidentally, it also forms an integral part of the CPL/IR course detailed below.


 PPL Minimum Entry Requirements 

  • Successful completion of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (Malaysian Secondary School or Year 12) or O Levels or its equivalent for overseas cadet pilots;

  • Minimum age of seventeen;

  • Pass medical examination of Airline Transport Pilot Licence standard (Class I or II) with a requisite certificate from a DCA approved medical practitioner; cadet pilots are advised to contact DCA directly for an up-todate list of such medical practitioners or they may browse through our online FAQ for the same; and

  • Exceptional competence in the English language.

 PPL Ground School Training 

Ground School Training covers eighty (80) hours of tuition and lectures on aviation theory subjects such as (not meant to be exhaustive):

  • Radio Telephony

  • Navigation and Meteorology

  • Theory of Flight

  • Aviation Law

  • Aircraft General

  • Flight Rules and Procedures

  • Human Performance & Limitations

Flight School Training consists of forty eight (48) hours of solo and dual Single Engine (SE) flying on our Eagle and Piper Warrior fleet.




CPL/IR - Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating Course

CPL/IR - Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating Course


 CPL/IR Synopsis 

The Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating Course is geared and crafted in accordance with the specifications as is presently required by the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation. The course duration, inclusive of all ground and flying training, shall be not less than twelve (12) months, exclusive of holidays to meet the continuity requirement of an effective flight training and academic program for CPL (Single Engine) and overall, it shall not be less than fourteen (14) months, exclusive of holidays for the course as a whole. This approximates to eighteen (18) months.

The Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating (CPL/IR) course is an INTEGRATED COURSE in that its syllabus seamlessly integrates the Frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) course syllabus such that the cadet pilot, who successfully undergoes this course to its completion and successfully passes all the requisite DCA and UKCAA exam papers which this course thoroughly prepares them for, secures his/her Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating as well as a Frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence, which are all required licences and required ratings issued by DCA for a cadet pilot to be inducted into the narrow body fleet of a major airlines.

This course is designed to train a person to be able to fly a commercial airplane. A successful completion of this course along with DCA's and the United Kingdom Department of Civil Aviation's (UKCAA) theory examinations results in a Private Pilot Licence, a Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating and a Frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence. It is an essential and fundamental course in one's path to becoming a full fledged pilot with a commercial airlines.


 CPL/IR Minimum Entry Requirements 

  • Letter of approval from the Department of Civil Aviation, Malaysia; this is secured by the cadet pilot communicating their interest in the applicable course, their requisite medical certificate and their academic qualifications to DCA;

  • Successful completion of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (Malaysian Secondary School or Year 12) with credits five (5) subjects including English, Mathematics and a Science subject or O Levels or its equivalent for overseas cadet pilots;

  • Minimum age of seventeen and age not less than 18 upon the issuance of a Commercial Pilot Licence;

  • Pass medical examination of Airline Transport Pilot Licence standard (Class I) with a requisite certificate from a DCA approved medical practitioner; cadet pilots are advised to contact DCA directly for an up-todate list of such medical practitioners or they may browse through our online FAQ for the same; and

  • Exceptional competence in the English language.

 CPL/IR Ground School Training 

Ground School Training covers eight hundred sixty (860) hours of tuition and lectures on aviation theory subjects such as (not meant to be exhaustive):

Flight School Training consists of a hundred sixty five (165) hours of solo and dual Single Engine (SE) flying to be completed at no less than twelve (12) months exclusive of holidays on our Eagle and Piper Warrior fleet and thirty five (35) hours of Multi Engine (TE) flying on our Piper Seneca fleet.




ATPL - Frozen Airlines Transport Pilot Licence Course

ATPL - Frozen Airlines Transport Pilot Licence Course


 ATPL Synopsis 

The Frozen Airlines Transport Pilot Licence Course is available only for existing Commercial Pilot Licence holders only and is geared and crafted in accordance with the specifications as is presently required by the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation. It is a minimum continuous six (6) week term course designed to train a person to be commercially viable in the job market for commercial airlines. It is the next and final step to take after one's CPL/IR Licence. A successful completion of this course along with the United Kingdom Department of Civil Aviation's (UKCAA) theory examinations results in a frozen Airlines Transport Pilot Licence. A Frozen ATPL is a requirement for a pilot to work in an airlines as a Second Pilot. It is again an essential and final  course in one's path to becoming a full fledged pilot with a commercial airlines.


 ATPL Minimum Entry Requirements 

  • Letter of approval from the Department of Civil Aviation, Malaysia; this is secured by the cadet pilot communicating their interest in the applicable course, their requisite medical certificate and their existing and valid CPL/IR to DCA;

  • An existing and valid Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating from any country in the world;

  • Pass medical examination of Airline Transport Pilot Licence standard (Class I) with a requisite certificate from a DCA approved medical practitioner; cadet pilots are advised to contact DCA directly for an up-todate list of such medical practitioners or they may browse through our online FAQ for the same; and

  • Exceptional competence in the English language.

 ATPL Ground School Training 

Ground School Training covers two hundred (200) hours of tuition and lectures on aviation theory subjects such as (not meant to be exhaustive):

  • Meteorology (Theory & Practical)

  • Navigation (Plotting, et cetera)

  • Flight Planning

  • Instruments

  • Navigation General

  • Radio Aids

 ATPL Flight School Training 

Multi Engine (TE) flying on our Piper Seneca fleet and synthetic flight training on our Frasca flight simulator are optional with extra cost at pro rata rates for those who wish to clock additional flight hours whilst pursuing their ATPL course.




AFI - Assistant Flying Instructor Rating Course

 AFI Synopsis 

The Assistant Flying Instructor Rating Course is geared and crafted in accordance with the specifications as is presently required by the Malaysian Department of Civil Aviation. It is a minimum continuous six (6) week term course designed to train a person to be able to commercially train a cadet pilot. It is an essential and fundamental course in one's path to becoming a full fledged Qualified Flying Instructor.


 AFI Minimum Entry Requirements 

  • Letter of approval from the Department of Civil Aviation, Malaysia; this is secured by the cadet pilot communicating their interest in the applicable course, their requisite medical certificate and their existing and valid CPL/IR along with logged proof of 150 hours of PIC to DCA;

  • An existing and valid Commercial Pilot Licence with Instrument Rating from any country in the world;

  • A hundred fifty (150) hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC);

  • Pass medical examination of Airline Transport Pilot Licence standard (Class I or II) with a requisite certificate from a DCA approved medical practitioner; cadet pilots are advised to contact DCA directly for an up-todate list of such medical practitioners or they may browse through our online FAQ for the same; and

  • Exceptional competence in the English language.

 AFI Ground School Training 

Ground School Training covers fifty five (55) hours of tuition and lectures on aviation theory subjects such as (not meant to be exhaustive):
